Governor Doyle Announces $61.3 Million in Flood Relief for 62 Communities
Governor Jim Doyle announced today that 62 Wisconsin communities will receive $61.3 million to fund 122 projects from U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to fund long-term disaster recovery through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. The emergency funding will support Wisconsin’s long-term recovery from the 2008 floods.
After the June 2008 flooding, Governor Doyle declared a state of emergency in 31 counties. Since 2008, Wisconsin has received $124.3 million in flood relief from HUD. The funds must be used to support flood recovery and each activity must meet a national objective, either to benefit low or moderate income households or to address an urgent local need.
