Governor Walker signed Senate Bill 67, authored by Representative Joan Ballweg and I into law earlier this year.

The Act, which was known as the “Ducks Bill”, allows the popular Wisconsin Dells Ducks to travel around the rapidly expanding Wisconsin Dells area.

With 1 in 13 jobs relying on tourism, bills like these are important to the 14th Senate District and the State of Wisconsin.
Assembly Bill 81 and Senate Bill 79 which was introduced by Representative Scott Krug and I, establishes important consumer protection measures against aggressive “storm chasing” contractors that prey on vulnerable homeowners after a momentous storm.

This bill passed eariler this year and has been signed into law by Governor Scott Walker.

Joining Governor Scott Walker, Wisconsin State Representative Joan Ballweg and I at the bill signing was Dan Gavinski of the Original Wisconsin Ducks, Tom Diehl of the Tommy Bartlett Show and Capitol staffers who worked on this legislation.
Governor Scott Walker signing Assembly Bill 81, companion to Senate Bill 79, into law. 2013 Wisconsin Act 24 prohibits contractors from promising to rebate an insurance deductible as incentive for a consumer to enter into certain contracts. This legislation is a common sense consumer protection measure to help defend Wisconsinites against unscrupulous “storm chaser” contractors.

This Act will curtail fraudulent home repair practices and protect consumers, while also bringing certainty to honest hard working contractors.
The Assembly concurred passage of Senate Joint Resolution 18 declaring May 2013 as Youth Traffic Safety Month.

These young men are members of the Students Against Distracted Driving (SADD) Chapter at Green Lake High School who helped write the Resolution.
Senator Olsen serves as the Vice-Chair of the Joint Finance Committee. He is seen here asking questions of the Legislative Fiscal Bureau during a Budget Meeting of the Joint Finance Committee.
