Two Lazich bills headed to Governor for signature
Two bills authored by Senator Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) cleared final legislative hurdles Wednesday. Senate Bill 15 and Senate Bill 41 now wait for Governor Walker’s signature to become law.
The Assembly approved Senate Bill 15, a bill that repeals an expensive and burdensome data collection mandate from law enforcement.
Senate Bill 15 removes an unnecessary burden placed on law enforcement. At the committee hearing for the bill, law enforcement officers testified the mandate requires duplicate work and takes away from their ability to fight crime in their communities.
"I am pleased to remove a big government mandate on local units of government, and free up officer's time to focus on community safety, rather than force law enforcement to do unnecessary, repetitive paperwork," Lazich said.
Senate Bill 41 protects small trucking companies from being forced into unfair contracts with larger shipping companies. The bill protects the public by requiring shippers to be responsible while shipping materials.
"Senate Bill 41 levels the playing field for small business and provides certainty for insurance providers," Lazich said. "I look forward to Governor Walker signing both Senate Bill 15 and Senate Bill 41."
