Lazich Coercive Abortion Bill Receives Committee Hearing
A bill authored by Senator Mary Lazich to combat coercive abortions and unnecessary post-abortion trauma received a Senate committee hearing Tuesday.
Senate Bill 306, The Coercive and Webcam Abortion Prevention Act, ensures a woman’s consent to an abortion is truly and completely voluntary by requiring the physician to speak with the woman privately and in person. Unfortunately, many women feel pressured to undergo an abortion. The mental trauma that comes with an abortion lasts long after the procedure and can be incredibly difficult.
“The testimony at today’s hearing from women suffering abortion trauma was compelling and moving,” Lazich said. “The Coercive and Webcam Abortion Prevention Act will ensure women undergoing this life-changing procedure do so at their own will and with their eyes open.”
The Senate Committee on Health has not set a date for a vote on Senate Bill 306.
