Recently, Ken Peterson retired as manager of the Barron Electric Cooperative ending a 38 year career with the cooperative. As manager Ken was widely respected within the company and throughout the industry for his leadership skills. As a member of the Wisconsin Electric Cooperative Association’s legislative committee he was a well respected spokesperson for cooperative concerns and was an influence on major electric cooperative legislation at the state and national level. For the past 23 years Ken would lead a delegation of cooperative members to participate in legislative discussions in Madison. As always those discussions were respectful and civil in promoting the important matters affecting electric cooperatives and their members. As a dedicated member of the community Ken served on the Barron Chamber of Commerce Board for 19 years and was a member on the UW-Barron County Foundation. Recently, leaders of the community, employees and other fellow utility members honored Ken for his exemplary service and lifelong dedication to his work in the Electric Cooperative Industry and the betterment of his community. to the members of the Barron Electric but also to his neighbors throughout northern Wisconsin. Both Mary Hubler and I were proud to join his friends and wishing he and his family good health and happiness in his retirement.
