Senator Jauch attended the Opportunities for Success Luncheon on November 14, 2008 at the Original Famous Dave's in Hayward to recognize employers in Northwest Wisconsin who partner with the Department of Workforce Development Division of Vocational Rehabilitation to assist individuals with disabilities in finding employment.   Transportation Enhancement Grants
Senator Jauch speaks about the transportation enhancement grant that not only helps renovate Winter’s Historic Depot, but will also transform the building into the village’s welcome center and house historic displays on how the railroad brought economic development to the area. Winter School students Ryland Pietras, CJ Coleman, Amanda Petit, and Mercedie Wiley hold the $288,640 check awarded to Sawyer County for the renovation of the Winter Historic Depot, which was built in 1905.
Hayward Mayor Tom Duffy talks about the pedestrian trail and historic preservation projects that the state transportation enhancement grants will help improve. Sawyer County Board Chairman Hal Helwig, Senator Jauch, and Representative Sherman stand by.
Senator Jauch and Representative Sherman present Mayor Tom Duffy with a $195,895 check to aid in the construction of Phase Two of the bicycle and walking path that runs from Hayward High School to the junction of Highway 27/77 and Nyman Avenue. The path is already heavily used by children going to school as well as runners, dog-walkers, and bikers.
Senator Jauch and Representative Sherman award Sawyer County Board Chaiman Hal Helwig with a $434,400 check to go towards the creation of a 4.8-mile hiking trail between Highway 27 and LCO Casino. The project initiators believe it will boost the Sawyer County economy.
