  Stewardship Fund
Senator Jauch speaks of the importance of the state stewardship program at Mt. Ashwabay in Bayfield County on December 10th. The event was celebrating a $40,000 donation from Murphy Oil to cap off the amount needed to complete the sale of Mt. Ashwabay and the Nourse Sugarbush, which together form one of the most unique natural recreation areas in the state.
Murphy Oil donated $40,000 to cap off the amount needed to complete the sale of Mt. Ashwabay and the Nourse Sugarbush. Other funding sources for the purchase included federal funds through Congressman Dave Obey, state funds from the Nelson-Knowles Stewardship fund, county funds from Bayfield County, and numerous donations from private citizens.

  Bayfield
Governor Jim Doyle joins City of Bayfield Mayor Larry MacDonald and State Senator Bob Jauch (D-Poplar) in Bayfield during his annual northern tour this August. The City of Bayfield recently received a check for over $34,000 from the State of Wisconsin Disaster Relief Fund to assist with costs associated with the windstorm in July of 2006 that swept through the city during Bayfield Festival of Arts. Senator Jauch helped create the Wisconsin Disaster Relief Rund so that communities, such as Bayfield, are able to cover costs from unplanned natural disasters when the damage is significant but not devastating enough to qualify for federal aid.
  Madeline Island Emergency Dredging

Jauch attended an event there as part of the Governor’s annual northern tour to celebrate the passage of legislation authored by Sen. Jauch and Rep. Sherman to sustain Midwest Forest Products and more than 60 Wisconsin jobs in the logging, timber, and pulpwood processing industry.

  Senate Bill 209
Senator Jauch and Ken Maki of Midwest Forest Products look on as Governor Doyle signs Senate Bill 209, legislation designed to assist Midwest Forest Products remain in operation. Midwest Forest Products is a wood chip mill located in Iron River, Wisconsin, has regular contracts with 60 loggers and employs 15 full-time workers.

  Barron County Dairy Breakfast
This year the Barron County Dairy Breakfast marked its 33rd year. It is the oldest dairy breakfast in the state of Wisconsin.
