Wisconsin, long recognized as “America’s Dairyland,” has a long history of being a top producer and exporter of milk and dairy products. Recent reports show Wisconsin’s exports of dairy products increased by 23% in the first six months of 2013 compared to a year ago. Wisconsin dairy exports totaled $171 million. Total agricultural exports increased 10% over last year totaling $1.6 billion to 132 countries, moving Wisconsin to 13th overall among the states. Wisconsin’s top agricultural export destinations were Canada, China, and Mexico. Given the importance of agriculture as one of the top industries in Wisconsin, this is great news for our state as well as our farm economy!
