The Wisconsin Army National Guard’s 724th Engineer Battalion has completed their work on the storm cleanup project in Burnett and Douglas Counties in northern Wisconsin. The project, named Operation Blue Ox, was completed by around 50 members of the 724th Engineer Battalion and covered almost 175 miles. Starting September 6th, they worked to remove tree limbs from roadsides in order to address potential safety and fire hazards.
While the members of the 724th
Engineer Battalion have completed their part, cleanup efforts are far from over.
Landowners, state agency employees, local county and utility workers as well as loggers are still working hard to salvage and cleanup timber on their properties as well as address the impact on local roads due to the increase in timber harvest.
