While the State Legislature has passed a number of reforms in recent years to reduce waste, fraud, and abuse in state government, we continue to look at ways to save taxpayer dollars. If you have suggestions on areas the state should look at to find cost savings, you are encouraged to share your ideas by clicking here.
The Office of Inspector General (OIG) within the Department of Health Services (DHS) also maintains a hotline to receive reports on waste, fraud, and abuse of public assistance programs. OIG wants to hear from anyone who has information concerning public assistance fraud. DHS operates many of the state’s public assistance programs including FoodShare benefits, Supplemental Security Income, and Medicaid among others. OIG investigates fraud and reviews all tips they receive, and takes appropriate action with the Department of Justice. If you suspect any fraudulent activity of any public assistance programs, please call the Office of the Inspector General toll-free fraud hotline at 1-877-865-3432.
