Volunteer to ‘Build a Vet a Guitar’ in Hammond
One of the many benefits of music is its ability to offer comfort and healing to those experiencing personal challenges or health issues. Given the power of music in providing hope and healing to veterans afflicted with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Guitars for Vets was created to provide veterans with acoustic guitars and lessons on how to play the instrument.
A local small business, Vondriska Woodworks of Hammond, has partnered with Guitars for Vets to host Build a Vet a Guitar events to assemble and build acoustic guitars for donation to veterans twice in the past several years. Vondriska Woodworks will again be hosting a Build a Vet a Guitar event this fall on September 12th and 13th. Those interested in volunteering to help build a guitar can visit the Facebook page for the Hammond event here.
