U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Approval of Permit Moves St. River Crossing Forward
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has approved the permit application under the federal Clean Water Act and the Rivers and Harbors Act for the St. Croix River Crossing bridge project. This approval marks another step towards a new river crossing and allows bids to be sought for the bridge construction.
Bridge foundation work will begin next month, while construction of the main structure is expected to begin next year with a completion date of 2016.
The new St. Croix River Crossing will replace the 80-year-old Stillwater Bridge and will improve traffic flow and safety for area residents and commuters.
