This year marked the 161st deer hunt in the state of Wisconsin. The Department of Natural Resources reported that the total harvest is up 7.7 percent from 2011 and a preliminary tally of 243,739 deer registered by hunters from November 17th to 26th. Of the deer harvested, 114,822 were bucks and 128,917 were antlerless deer. This year there were 29,000 new registered hunters, 33 percent were new female hunters and another 33 percent were under 17 years old. Deer hunting is a tradition that brings family and friends together to enjoy all that our great state has to offer.
