Uncovering and Stopping Waste, Fraud, and Abuse
The Department of Health Services (DHS) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) investigates waste, fraud, and abuse of state-funded public assistance benefits such as trafficking Foodshare benefits, billing Medicaid for services or equipment not provided, and filing a false application for medical assistance and food program. Fraud in government programs is a significant issue that costs taxpayers and jeopardizes safety net programs by diverting resources from those most in need. DHS updated its OIG website to make it easier for the public to report suspected fraud.
If you suspect an individual or a provider of fraudulent activity in public assistance programs under DHS and would like to file a complaint, please call the OIG Fraud Hotline toll-free at 1-877-865-3432 or visit the OIG website and click on the red “Report Fraud” button.
