Attention farmers! Now is the time to apply for Federal funding through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) administered by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). Applications are being accepted now through September 2 for funding in 2017. Individuals can apply at the local USDA Service Center in your county.
EQIP is available to farmers for farm and woodland conservation work, offering funding for more than 110 conservation practices. Farmers are urged to begin planning conservation projects and seeking permits (if necessary) as soon as possible, as shovel-ready projects will receive higher priority for funding.
Special sign-up opportunities are also now available in the following areas:
-On-Farm Energy conservation
-Organic operations assistance and certification
-Seasonal High-Tunnel conservation practices
-Honey Bee habitat
-National Water Quality Initiative
-Monarch Butterfly Habitat Development Project
-Regional Conservation Partnership Program
