Recognizing Dr. Norman Borlaug
Today marks the 100th birthday of Dr. Norman Borlaug, a respected agricultural scientist and leader who was known as “the man who saved a billion lives.  Among other honors awarded for his contributions, Dr. Borlaug received a Nobel Peace Prize in 1970 in recognition of his success in adapting new wheat varieties and promoting their worldwide production and his work has proven instrumental in the fight against global hunger.  Earlier this month, the State Senate passed a resolution authored by Senator Harsdorf to honor Dr. Borlaug for his contributions to agricultural science.
