The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) in partnership with the University of Wisconsin System recently launched a new initiative called Ideadvance, which is designed to encourage entrepreneurship at UW campuses. WEDC provided $1 million from its Capital Catalyst program and UW System provided $1 million from its Economic Development Incentive Grant to create the $2 million Ideadvance Seed Fund to assist UW students, staff, and faculty as they commercialize technology and ideas. The seed funding will support entrepreneurs by bridging the gap between ideas and creating new businesses. UW-Extension will administer the Ideadvance Seed Fund and will be accepting applications in three rounds beginning in March and again in May and November.
Ideadvance is an important partnership between WEDC and UW System that will help advance technology across the state and lead to greater job growth. Additional information on this new initiative is available at http://uwideadvance.org/.
