Harsdorf Applauds Finance Committee Action on Budget
Joint Committee on Finance advances budget on 12-4 vote
“The tough decisions we made last session to balance the state budget are now paying off for taxpayers.  The budget surplus and growing revenue estimates are providing us with the opportunity to enact historic tax cuts and continue bringing government spending in line with what taxpayers can afford.”
“Today’s vote by the Legislature’s budget-writing committee is great news for state taxpayers as we doubled the size of the Governor’s proposed tax cut, bringing relief to middle-class families and job creators.  The budget proposal also protects homeowners and small businesses by holding the line on property taxes.”
“In addition to the permanent tax cuts that will allow taxpayers to keep more of their hard-earned money, we are also able to fund our priorities in education, encouraging job creation, and transportation.  The Committee approved initiatives to address our state’s skills gap, increase funding for education, and improve access to capital investment for start-up businesses.”
“The budget bill will now be taken up by the State Assembly and State Senate and then sent to the Governor for his consideration.  I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues to enact this taxpayer-friendly budget that focuses on job creation.”
