Floating Toilet Facilities OK’d on St. Croix River
Legislation requested by the DNR to allow the National Park Service to approve a floating toilet facility on the St. Croix River passed the State Assembly last week with bi-partisan support. This legislation which previously passed the State Senate, will allow the National Park Service to locate these facilities on an island in the river that is used by campers throughout the boating season. The current lack of appropriate facilities results in not only an unpleasant situation for campers and boaters that visit the island but raises environmental concerns as well. This measure will help protect the river and provide a more sanitary and environmentally sound solution for campers. This legislation was signed into law by the Governor today.
