Exercise Caution and Be Safe on our Roadways!
As you head out for summer vacations or weekend getaways with your family on Wisconsin’s many roads and highways, it is important to be aware of highway maintenance and construction workers that are working hard during construction season. Additionally, law enforcement officers and emergency services personnel are also often along our highways as they respond to emergencies and traffic stops.
To keep safe and protect law enforcement officers, emergency responders, and road maintenance workers on the highway, Wisconsin has a “Move Over” Law that requires drivers to slow down or change lanes to create a safety zone. This safety zone provides space for squad cars, ambulances, fire trucks, tow trucks or highway maintenance vehicles that are stopped on the side of a road, ensuring the safety for those providing these important services.
