DOT reminds drivers to use safety zone
This month, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation wants drivers to remember to provide a safety zone for law enforcement and emergency vehicles who are stopped on the side of roadways.  These vehicles include tow truck operators, emergency responders, road maintenance workers and others who work or park on the side of roadways.
Drivers are required to change lanes if possible or slow down in order to create a safety zone for whoever is stopped or flashing their warning lights.  For those who violate this law, citations cost $263.50 with three demerit points added to your license.
