On Friday December 2nd, the Governor will light the Capitol Christmas Tree and dedicate it to Wisconsin Veterans. The tree will be lit and dedicated at 8:15 with members from all branches of military services and veterans from several conflicts in attendance. Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Scocos and Major General Dunbar will also be present to dedicate the tree.
At noon, the Gift of the Tree Celebration will begin with the High School Chamber Choir from the School District of Maple. They will be accompanied by Senator Bob Jauch and Representative Nick Milroy. Department of Natural Resources Secretary Cathy Stepp will give a history of the 36-foot balsam fir, which is a gift to the people of Wisconsin from the Brule River State Forest in northwest Wisconsin. Secretary Stepp will also give a brief overview of forestry in Wisconsin.
