Avoiding Summer Scams
Summer is finally here and is a great time for working around the home or garden, planning a family vacation, or attending a local concert or community event.  In order to ensure you have an enjoyable summer, the Consumer Action Handbook has a few suggestions to avoid some of the top scams of the season.  For example, as you head out on family trips it is recommended that you avoid using gas additives advertised to improve fuel efficiency.  No such products have been demonstrated to increase gas mileage and some of these additives can actually harm your vehicle’s engine.  Summer is also a great time for home improvement projects, but always be sure to research those you are considering  doing business with before hiring.  Also, it is advisable that you do not pay in advance for projects.  For more summer consumer tips, please click here.
