The Governor has announced he is seeking applicants for the student representative on the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents. Students willing to serve a two-year term that are over the age of 18, enrolled at least half-time in a University of Wisconsin institution, in good academic standing, a Wisconsin resident, and would be enrolled for their entire term are encouraged to apply. Please note that due to UW-Madison and UW-Parkside having been recently represented on the board, no applications will be accepted from these institutions.
The Board of Regents is responsible for establishing policies and rules for governing the University of Wisconsin System, planning to meet future state needs for higher education, setting admission standards and policies, as well as reviewing and approving university budgets. Regents are charged with establishing the regulatory framework within which the individual campuses are allowed to operate with as great a degree of autonomy as possible. Board members attend eight regular meetings per year, serve on special committees, serve as liaisons with at least two UW institutions, and perform related duties.
The deadline for submitting application materials is noon on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Potential applicants with questions about the appointments process may contact the Governor’s appointment director, Eric Esser, at 608-266-1212 or visit the Governor’s website at www.walker.wi.gov.
