The Senate Scholar Program has begun accepting applications for the 2014 program. The Senate Scholar Program provides high school juniors and seniors a great opportunity to learn more about state government through an intensive week-long program that includes meetings with legislators, staff, legislative agencies, governor’s staff, a Supreme Court Justice, the media and lobbyists. Students also have the chance to assist the Senate Sergeant’s staff during session days and end the week by drafting a bill and holding a mock hearing.
Three separate sessions will be held in 2014 on February 9-14, February 16-21, and March 9-14. Applications must be received by January 3, 2014, and applicants will be selected and notified by mid-January. For an application or more information on the program, please visit www.senatescholar.com or contact my office by calling (800) 862-1092 or (608) 866-7745 or email Sen.Harsdorf@legis.wi.gov.
