Statement Regarding the Middle Class Tax Cut

MADISON – Tonight the Wisconsin state senate approved the republican’s spending plan (Assembly Bill 4) Senator Smith (D-Brunswick) offered the following statement:

“Governor Tony Evers’ middle class tax cut is the only responsible plan for Wisconsin. Voters across Wisconsin elected Governor Evers based on his plan to cap handouts to millionaires for middle class tax relief. The Republican’s unfunded and hastily written tax plan leaves serious questions about future cuts to schools, roads and health care.

“Despite this setback today, I’m hopeful Republicans will stop playing politics with the middle class. Republicans will have a second chance to work with Governor Evers on middle class tax relief in two weeks when the Governor releases his budget. I just hope the Republicans take the opportunity.”

The 31st Senate District includes all of Buffalo and Pepin counties, portions of Trempealeau, Pierce, Dunn, Eau Claire, Chippewa and Jackson counties and very small portions of Chippewa and St. Croix counties.
