Senator Jon Erpenbach, 27th Senate District

A former radio personality and legislative assistant, Senator Jon Erpenbach was elected to represent the 27th Senate District in November of 1998. His Senate colleagues elected him Senate Democratic Leader December 2002-2004. Currently Senator Erpenbach is a member of the Joint Committee on Finance, the Legislature’s budget writing committee.

Senator Erpenbach began as a radio personality in Portage, Madison and Milwaukee. He subsequently worked in both the State Assembly and State Senate in media relations and as communications director.

Including parts of Columbia, Dane, Green, Iowa, and Sauk counties, the 27th Senate District has large suburban areas, smaller municipal communities, and purely rural areas. Senator Jon Erpenbach has worked to lead the Senate in the areas of health insurance reform, personal privacy, consumer protection, wage and labor equity, proactive educational reforms, higher education access and affordability, long term solutions for transportation funding, and the regulation of third-party spending in elections.

Senator Erpenbach is currently a member of the following Senate Standing Committees: Joint Committee on Finance, Joint Survey Committee on Retirement Systems, Senate Health and Human Services, Senate Workforce Development, Military and Senior Issues and Senate Sporting Heritage, Mining and Forestry.
