Moulton Statement on State of the State Address
(Madison)…State Senator Terry Moulton (R-Chippewa Falls) issued the following statement following Governor Scott Walker’s State of the State address:
“This afternoon, Governor Walker reminded us that just eight years ago, Wisconsin faced billion dollar deficits, record unemployment and double digit tax increases. In a few years, we’ve turned Wisconsin around. Today businesses are expanding, budgets are balanced, taxes are down and unemployment is the lowest we’ve seen in nearly twenty years.
Among other things, I support Governor Walker’s Rural Agenda and look forward to tackling the particular challenges facing rural Wisconsin through new long-term investment in rural economic development, increased work force development and more dollars in rural classrooms.
Our economy and our communities depend on agriculture and the Governor’s Family Farm Fund will help ensure the next generation of farmers get the training they need to take over the family farm. In addition, I welcome the creation of the Rural Economic Development Fund, an annual $50 million in new investment to bolster rural communities through economic and workforce development.
Although we’ve made great strides, our work is far from over. Governor Walker outlined an ambitious agenda for 2018 and I look forward to working with him to grow our economy, strengthen our communities and make Wisconsin an even better place to live, work and raise a family.
