Governor Walker Declares August 31 as Supper Club Day in Wisconsin

Today, Governor Scott Walker, Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett, and other members of Cabinet leadership have taken to the road to celebrate Supper Club Day and deliver commemorative plaques to ten distinguished supper clubs. Over 400,000 people took the time to nominate and vote for their favorite supper club destination through the month-long "Travel Wisconsin Supper Club Showdown." Final results for the online contest can be found through this link

Of the ten selected winners, Schwarz's Supper Club of St. Anna and Chissy's Pub & Grill of Waldo each secured spots in the top five. Both venues have become a destination for the locals and out-of-town visitors who file in by the hundreds every night. Chissy's is a family-run operation that has been recognized for serving the best old-fashioned in Sheboygan County. Schwarz's was highlighted by Secretary Klett earlier this year in her radio interview on the Wisconsin fish fry tradition.

Senator Stroebel took the afternoon to travel to Schwarz's for the award presentation. The following legislative citations were delivered to the respective owners of each supper club, on behalf of the Wisconsin State Legislature:
