Wisconsin students encouraged to decorate 2017 State Capitol Christmas Tree

During the first half of November, art teachers, parents and children from every corner of the state are encouraged to continue the tradition of making ornaments for the Capitol Christmas Tree.

Because 2017 marked the 100th anniversary of the Capitol building, the selected theme for this year’s ornaments is the “Capitol’s 100th Birthday.” Participants should share ornament-making experiences through Facebook and Twitter using #WICapitolTree.

All ornament designs for the Capitol Christmas Tree should be submitted by Wednesday, November 22 and addressed as follows:

            Claire Franz
            Wisconsin Department of Administration
            Division of Facilities Management
            17 W Main St, Suite 119
            Madison, WI 53703

It is recommended students construct their ornaments from a sturdy material that will hold up through shipping. Ornaments should be between 4-6 inches in size and designed to contrast the color of the tree for optimal visibility. Finally, the teacher’s name, grade, school name and address should be included with each submission.
