Madison, WI – Senator Howard Marklein (R-Spring Green) was sworn-in for another four-year term today on the floor of the State Senate. The Senate Inauguration was held at 2 p.m.

“I am honored to be representing the residents of the 17th Senate District for another four years in the State Senate,” Marklein said. “I am looking forward to serving those I represent, leading legislation that makes a difference, championing rural issues, defending our reforms and continuing to watch the state’s checkbook.”

Marklein was appointed to serve as Chair of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Revenue & Financial Institutions, Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Transportation, Veterans and Military Affairs, Member of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources & Energy and Member of the legislature’s budget-writing Joint Finance Committee.

“My committee assignments reflect the Senate’s commitment to giving rural Wisconsin a strong voice on important issues such as transportation, agriculture, taxes and natural resources,” Marklein said. “I am excited to begin our work again in January and am further enthused to begin a new role on the Senate Committee on Natural Resources & Energy. This committee discusses unique concepts that have particular concern to our communities.”

Marklein was also elected to serve as Senate President Pro Tempore by his colleagues.
