Senate Inauguration

Last week, I had the honor of being inaugurated to the Wisconsin State Senate. Family members and close friends attended this special day. I’d like to thank my family, friends, and neighbors for all their support throughout this process. I am ready to represent our communities in the 17th Senate District.

My wife Peggy, along with my siblings, children, nieces, nephews, and I on Inauguration Day!

Listening Session in Monroe

Monday, January 19, 2015
3-4pm
Monroe Senior Center
1113 10th Street Monroe
2nd floor meeting room

I will be holding my first listening session of my senate term on Monday in Monroe. It will be held on Monday, January 19th at the Monroe Senior Center. The session will run from 3-4pm.

I am looking forward to hearing opinions and concerns from my constituents. This is a great opportunity for me to connect with constituents and receive input as we begin to discuss the state budget and legislative priorities for the 2015-2016 session.

Department of Transportation (DOT): Public involvement meeting scheduled for WIS 11 intersection improvements, Benton

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southwest Region will hold a public involvement meeting to discuss the proposed improvements at the Highway 11 and Galena Street intersection in Benton. The meeting is scheduled from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21 at the Benton VFW, 82 E. Main Street. A presentation will be made at 5:30 p.m.

The proposed intersection improvements would result in the removal of trees along the right-of-way on the north side of Highway 11 between Galena Street and County J. The veteran memorials located in the highway median would not be impacted, and no real estate acquisition would be required.

The project is part of DOT’s plans to improve freight mobility and safety at three locations in the area. In addition to Benton, improvements are planned at WIS 11 and WIS 80 in Grant County, and WIS 11 and Court Street in Rock County.
WisDOT staff will be available at the meeting to discuss the project. Construction is scheduled for 2015.

If you are unable to attend the meeting or would like more information, please contact project manager Suzan Nast at (608) 242-8051, or suzan.nast@dot.wi.gov . Written comments regarding the project can be mailed to Suzan Nast, Wisconsin Department of Transportation, 2101 Wright Street, Madison, WI 53704.
