"For decades, Wisconsin was the pride of Midwest when it came to providing good, safe roads and highways. But now, the U.S. Department of Transportation is saying that 71 percent of Wisconsin roads are in poor or mediocre condition making us one of the three worst states for road conditions in America.
"The recent transportation budget cut hundreds of millions of dollars from our state transportation program resulting in lengthy delays in important highway projects throughout the state. Not paying for needed road repairs has negatively impacted both highway safety and economic development.
"It is disappointing that my Senate Republican colleagues voted against this crucial funding for our roads. They seem content to kick the can the down the road while our roads and bridges literally crumble around us. This is State Senator Janis Ringhand letting you know that Senate Democrats remain committed to working to find a long-term solution in order to keep Wisconsin’s roads safe for everyone."
