Rep. Born and Sen. Fitzgerald Statement on Placement of Robert Larson
On Monday, Judge Joseph Sciascia held a hearing regarding the placement of Robert Larson, a sex offender on supervised release as part of Wisconsin’s Chapter 980 Sexually Violent Persons program. Judge Sciascia rescinded the order that placed Mr. Larson on supervised release and ordered his return to the Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Facility. Mr. Larson had been living in the Town of Leroy since early June. Judge Brian Pfitzinger will hold a similar hearing on August 11 regarding the placement of Jonathan Miller, another sex offender on supervised release who resides at the same location in Leroy.
Representative Mark Born (R-Beaver Dam) and Senator Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) released the following statement after Sciascia’s decision:
“We were pleased to learn today that the supervised release placement of Mr. Larson has been rescinded. This individual has a very troublesome past, and the state’s original decision to place him adjacent to a house with young children in Leroy was simply unacceptable. Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt and several members of the community initially brought this issue to our attention and we immediately echoed their concerns. We are happy those concerns resonated, and that this individual will return to custody until a more suitable location is found for him. We are hopeful that come August a similar ruling will be made in Mr. Miller’s case.”
