Legislative Republicans Release Arena Proposal Language
[Madison, WI] This afternoon, legislative Republicans released the language of a financing proposal for a new sports arena and entertainment venue for the City of Milwaukee. Senator Scott Fitzgerald released the following statement:
“After lengthy deliberations we are now able to release the full details of an arena proposal which I believe is a good deal for the State of Wisconsin. This plan takes advantage of the opportunity to leverage a huge private investment in order to ensure that the important economic engine that is the Bucks franchise continues to have a home in Milwaukee.
Most importantly, this proposal protects our state’s taxpayers by setting common-sense limits on public contributions while investing in an economic development project that will more than offset the cost to the state through future revenue growth.
I look forward to feedback from the members of the Senate and the public as they review the full details of this proposal, and will continue to work with all parties involved to ensure that any deal that keeps the Bucks in Milwaukee is a good deal for Wisconsin.”
Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) represent the 13th Senate District, which covers portions of Dodge, Jefferson, Waukesha, Washington, Dane, and Columbia counties.
