Rep. Born and Sen. Fitzgerald Statement on Placement of Jonathan Miller
Today, Judge Brian Pfitzinger held a hearing regarding the placement of Jonathan Miller, a sex offender on supervised release as part of Wisconsin’s Chapter 980 Sexually Violent Persons program. Judge Pfitzinger rescinded the order that placed Mr. Miller in a residence in the Town of Leroy in early June and ordered his return to the Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Facility. This decision follows a similar ruling from Judge Joseph Sciascia regarding the placement of Robert Larson, another sex offender placed on supervised release in the same location.
Representative Mark Born (R-Beaver Dam) and Senator Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) released the following statement after Judge Pfitzinger’s decision:
“We are grateful for the outcome of today’s court hearing which rescinded the placement of Mr. Miller. Coupled with Judge Sciascia’s decision last month, we are relieved that two violent sex offenders will no longer be residing next door to the home of several young children.
We would like to thank Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt and the members of the community who initially brought their concerns about this placement to our attention. We were thankful that those concerns resonated with both judges, and hope that local families can once again have peace of mind.”
