Fitzgerald Responds to Proposed WEDC Changes

[Madison, WI] This afternoon, Governor Walker announced several proposed administrative changes to
the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) including a move shifting funding for loan
programs into performance-based tax incentives, and placing funding priority on education and worker
training.

Senator Fitzgerald released the following statement:

“I am pleased to see that in light of the concerns raised by the recent legislative audit of the
WEDC, the Governor is taking steps to ensure that the agency focuses on its most successful
development tools.

WEDC continues to provide a valuable service to Wisconsinites and this move provides
additional certainty for businesses and taxpayers that the agency will operate efficiently and
accountably moving forward."

Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) represent the 13th Senate District, which covers
portions of Dodge, Jefferson, Waukesha, Washington, Dane, and Columbia counties.
