FUNDS RELEASED FOR TIMMERMAN AIRPORT IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

Taylor Statement on Doyle Action Providing $750,000

(MADISON)  Senator Lena C. Taylor (D-Milwaukee) issued the following statement today on the announcement of funding for airport improvements at the Lawrence J. Timmerman Airport on Milwaukee’s northwest side.

“I applaud Gov. Doyle for moving forward on transportation and aviation improvements at Timmerman Airport.  These combined local, state, and federal dollars, totaling $750,000, will fund improvements at the airport including rebuilding the terminal parking lot, replacing needed lighting, and performing environmental engineering for the proposed extension of the runway extension and removing obstructions.  State funds, amounting to $274,500, were part of the state budget approved this session and will help to improve the transportation infrastructure in Milwaukee.  I am happy to see Milwaukee is receiving the money appropriated for the project.”

Lawrence J. Timmerman Airport is located in the 4th Senate District on Appleton Avenue between Silver Spring Drive and Hampton Avenue on Milwaukee’s northwest side.  The airport is owned by Milwaukee County taxpayers.  Milwaukee County is contributing $76,500 to the project.
