Statement on 2017 Wisconsin Act 16 becoming Law
MADISON – On Wednesday, State Senator Frank Lasee (R-De Pere), issued the following statement about Governor Walker signing Lasee’s Senate Bill 77 into law creating 2017 Wisconsin Act 16:
“2017 Wisconsin Act 16 puts Wisconsin insurance companies in the same position as other out of state insurance companies. This law allows their surplus lines insurance to be sold in Wisconsin. This legislation is going to allow those Wisconsin companies to hire more employees in Wisconsin instead of moving to another state.
This common sense legislation is a win for both insurers and those consumers who need unique insurance that isn’t covered by the mainstream insurance marketplace. This change to law lets Wisconsin insurers compete here, while maintaining consumer and market protections.
I thank Governor Walker for signing this needed legislation into law today.” Lasee said.
