Senator Andre Jacque is co-sponsoring a bill, which will allow Wisconsin veterans who have received the Medal of Honor, the Purple Heart, and the Distinguished Service Cross, Navy Cross, Air Force DSC, and Survivors of Pearl Harbor to receive specialized license plates at no cost to them. Currently when Military specialty vehicle license plates are issued, a $15 issuance fee is required from the purchaser. WisDOT then transfers these funds to the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Trust Fund. Further, this legislation will require that when honorably discharged military veterans request a military specialty plate of their choice, that they would pay only the standard registration fee.
