Rep. Andre Jacque (R-WI 2nd District), along with State Assembly Republican Ken Skowronski, has announced plans to introduce three new pieces of legislation intended to assist Wisconsin veterans.
Jacque addressed area veterans and community members about the bills on Thursday, May 25, at the Oneida VFW Post 7784.
The first, LRB 1001/2, would grant Wisconsin’s 14 Congressionally-chartered Veteran’s Service Organizations the same sales and use tax exemption granted to other charitable organizations.
The second, LRB 2102/1, would reduce the eligibility threshold for veterans and unremarried surviving spouses of eligible veterans to claim the veteran’s property tax credit under the individual income tax system. To qualify currently a veteran must have a service-connected disability rating of 100 percent.
The third, LRB 0887/1, would provide a specialty plate at no cost to any veteran who is a recipient of the Medal of Honor, Purple Heart, Distinguished Service Cross, Navy Cross, Air Force DSC, or Survivors of Pearl Harbor.
