Jacque wants reason for switching judges
A proposal from a northeast Wisconsin lawmaker would require people to state a reason for wanting a different judge in a criminal case.
Rep. Andre Jacque believes some defendants and attorneys are "judge shopping" and filing frivolous requests. He says some people might think a certain judge hands down harsher sentences, or is less likely to hear certain motions.
While defendants wouldn't have to provide an explanation as to why, Jacque says they would at least have to reveal that they believe a judge has bias or prejudice.
