It's a cyber-harassment restraining order bill co-authored by State Representative André Jacque who says that justice shouldn't have to end at the state line. It involves threats and harassment from abusers in other states, or cyber-stalkers who stay after victims.
Jacque says a prime example is Melissa Torres.
“While she was attending the Governor’s budget address she was getting texts from her abuser, her ex-boyfriend, who was letting her know that he was watching, that she was worthless. You know things that were meant to undermine her in different ways,” said Jacque.
The bill has cleared the Assembly and its companion Senate bill will be voted on in committee this week.
