Buckley: Maxwell Street Day, Community Care Day nears
Greg Buckley 4:40 p.m. CDT August 4, 2015
Come downtown this Friday for sidewalk sales, tacos, brats, burgers and other great food — plus displays and demonstrations by more than 40 organizations that serve our community.
Maxwell Street Day features sidewalk sales from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and the traditional ping-pong ball drop at 3 p.m. This year, the ping balls will be shot out over the street from the top of the Schroeder’s building, onto the intersection of Washington and 17th streets.
Community Care Day features displays in Central Park by our various city departments, with equipment and personnel from public works, water, electric, police, fire and other city departments. Plus organizations like the Coast Guard, Sheriff’s Department, United Way of Manitowoc County and many others will attend.
The Crime Prevention Committee’s dunk tank will feature appearances by Police Chief Collins, State Rep. Andre Jacque and others.
We hope to see you downtown on Friday for Maxwell Street Day and Community Care Day.
