In their own words

"My internship with the Legislative Audit Bureau was a rewarding experience and an opportunity for professional growth. Throughout the internship, I contributed to multiple audits and had the chance to communicate with several employees from different State agencies. I was able to expand my knowledge and utilize skills learned in the classroom. Communicating with professionals and gaining an understanding of Governmental auditing were among the many skills I gained from my experience at the Bureau. Not only did I enjoy the work that I performed throughout my time at LAB; but also, I appreciated their willingness to help interns succeed. I would highly recommend an internship with LAB."

“My internship with the Legislative Audit Bureau was an extremely insightful and professionally rewarding experience. Working at the Bureau has allowed me to learn about state government and the importance of proper oversight. My assignments were very interesting and I felt the work I completed was pertinent. A typical workday would usually entail conducting interviews, performing testing, and completing workpapers. My positive experience at the Bureau was enhanced by the culture. Everyone I worked with was extremely nice and more than willing to provide guidance. Overall, I would highly recommend an internship at LAB!”

"My internship with the Legislative Audit Bureau was an extremely valuable experience. Throughout my internship, I had the opportunity to perform many types of testing for several different audits. In addition to the testing that I performed, the workpapers I completed had a direct contribution to the audits. The internship experience also allowed me to gain both governmental accounting knowledge and professional skills by working with other Legislative Audit Bureau team members, and interacting with the employees from the agencies. I was very impressed with the inclusive team environment at the Legislative Audit Bureau, and everyone was very willing to answer questions and share their experiences. I would highly recommend an internship with the Legislative Audit Bureau to develop professionally while gaining an understanding of governmental accounting."

“My internship at LAB was a valuable experience. I was able to work on multiple audits and gain an understanding of the different kinds of audits that LAB conducts. During the audits, I was able to perform testing, conduct interviews and complete workpapers. Additionally, the people at LAB made my internship experience that much better. Not only were they very knowledgeable and willing to answer any question I had, but they were also fun to be around. I would highly recommend an internship with LAB.”

Spring and Summer 2012
"I had a great internship experience at LAB. Everyone I worked with was so nice, and all of the staff made it a priority to get to know each of the interns. During my internship I was able to work on two very different audits that gave me great real-life auditing experience. I was given responsibility for completing auditee interviews, and writing workpapers where I did both test of controls and substantive testing. The LAB office is located right on the square in Madison and it was a blast being able to work in downtown Madison! Overall, I would recommend this internship to anyone."
