In this picture, crews continue to excavate near the East Frontage Road for one of the new storm water ponds at the future Williamsburg Way interchange. The East Frontage Road will be relocated near the fire hydrant on the right side of this picture.

WE'VE BEEN ASKED...

"What will happen with the tunnel under Verona Road (US 18/151) north of Williamsburg Way?"

Access for this underpass will be maintained until fall 2017. This area will be an active work zone, so we encourage everyone to be alert for crews and equipment in this area.

...

Starting in fall 2017 or spring 2018, the underpass will be permanently closed and pedestrian/bicycle access will be relocated to an at-grade crossing at Williamsburg Way. This at-grade crossing will remain available to pedestrians and bicyclists until late 2018 or spring 2019. At that time, crews will build the new Williamsburg Way bridge over Verona Road, which will last about three to four months. Bicyclists and pedestrians will be redirected to a signed detour route along the frontage road to Spoke/Sprocket Drive to reconnect with the Military Ridge path.

The final location for this crossing will be on the Williamsburg Way bridge over Verona Road.

Learn about the pedestrian and bicycle accommodations with this project at http://bit.ly/VeronaRoadProject-BikePedAccommodations.

These activities and schedule of events are weather dependent and subject to change. Information on access changes and closures will be shared on the Verona Road Project website, and via our project email distribution list.
