National
Governors Association Meets in Wisconsin
Last Friday, August 2, I had the
privilege of attending the Harley Ride at the National Governors
Association (NGA) Summer 2013 meeting in Milwaukee. Milwaukee was
selected to host the annual convention, demonstrating the faith and
confidence the NGA has in our great state. Colorado Governor John
Hickenlooper called Milwaukee one of the nation’s hidden gems,
highlighting the city’s beauty, beer, and cheese. It was an honor to
help show off the great state of Wisconsin.
I participated in the
ride with Reps. Jeff Mursau, Dan Knodl, and Paul Tittl
As part of the conference, several
governors, legislators, and about 100 combat veterans participated in a
motorcycle ride through Milwaukee that ended at the Harley Davidson
Museum. I was honored to ride with so many of our state’s courageous
veterans.
The Governor also released a video of
highlights from the ride,
which you can access here.
Comparative
Budget Summary Released
The nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau
has released its
Comparative Summary for the 2013-2015 budget. Governor Walker signed
the budget into law as 2013 Wisconsin Act 20 on June 30 and it took
effect July 1, 2013. The summary compares Act 20 to Governor Walker’s
original proposal, Assembly Bill (AB) 40, and subsequent changes to AB
40 as it made its way through the legislative process.
