Introducing State Representative Amanda Stuck February 04, 2015

Hello,

Reps. Sargent, Kerkman and Stuck wear red to
recognize Wisconsin Heart Month at the Governor's
Budget Address.

My name is Amanda Stuck, and I am the new State Representative from the 57th Assembly District.

I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to everyone who’s door I might not have knocked on or who’s mailbox may not have received a flyer last year, and I wanted to provide everyone with a little bit of my background.

I was born and raised in Appleton and attended the Appleton public schools. I worked my way through college at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, I served in the AmeriCorps at Habitat for Humanity and the Red Cross, and I worked as a Rural Mail Carrier to pay for tuition and bills in college. I returned to school to earn a Master’s in Public Administration from UW-Oshkosh and worked for former Congressman Steve Kagen. Most recently I worked at the Appleton Housing Authority as a Housing Specialist, working to make sure that there are opportunities for low-income residents to find affordable housing options. I continue to serve on the Fox Cities Community Council and on the United Way 211 Advisory Council. I also volunteer at my children’s schools. I live with my husband David and our four children here in Appleton.

I am looking forward to getting to work on the Assembly Committees on: Energy and Utilities, Environment and Forestry, Housing and Real Estate and Jobs and the Economy. I plan to take my passion and work ethic into these committees, as well as showing the rest of the Legislature what the Fox Valley is about. I know that the only way that our community can be the best that it can be is by putting prejudices and differences aside. By working together, regardless of what our party is, I am certain that we can make our community and our state a better place to live. That being said, I will be an advocate for working families, for a strong public education system and for our Fox Cities Community, and I won’t hesitate to speak out when the priorities and policies of others in State Government don’t aim for those goals.

While I am a new Legislator, I am hitting the ground running, looking at ways that I can help to make our community a better place. In order for me to be the most effective legislator and advocate for our community as possible, I need your help. I hope that you, my constituents, will write, call and email me about the important issues facing our community and the State of Wisconsin. With your feedback and guidance I can make sure that I am being an accurate voice for our community.

As the Governor introduced his Budget proposal yesterday (you can find a copy here) you will certainly hear and see lots of news stories and discussions about the changes and funding priorities that Governor Walker put forward. I hope that you’ll take the time out of your busy day to share your thoughts and concerns about the budget with me.

I hope that you will call my office at 608.266.3070 (Toll Free 888.534.0057), email me at Rep.Stuck@legis.wisconsin.gov or send me a letter at PO Box 8953 Madison, WI 53708. I look forward to hearing from you and serving you and our community!
