JUNE IS DAIRY MONTH

In Wisconsin, June Dairy Month recognizes the important role that dairy farmers play in our state. The dairy industry is crucial for our state's economic success. The dairy industry contributes over $25 billion to Wisconsin's economy annually.

In honor of June Dairy Days, here are some fun facts about the dairy industry in Wisconsin:

  • Wisconsin is home to over 1 million dairy cows and we produce nearly 30 billion pounds of milk per year. We also produce around 3 billion pounds of cheese per year.

  • 90% of Wisconsin's milk is made into cheese.

  • Wisconsin is responsible for 26% of the U.S.'s cheese production, making Wisconsin #1 in cheese production in the country. We also lead the nation in the number of cheese plants with 144, more than twice as many as any other state.

  • The average American consumes around 30 pounds of cheese a year, and our favorite way to consuming cheese is in Mac & Cheese. Pizza is also a very popular way to consume cheese, as Americans eat about 350 slices of pizza per second.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY (SUNDAY, JUNE 18)

If you are not busy in the farm fields like I will be this weekend, I hope fathers can enjoy spending time to celebrate life as a dad!
