Ballweg initiatives that advanced in 2011

Bills and Resolutions authored by Representative Ballweg

The state senate and assembly passed Senate Bill 96 by a wide bipartisan margin, this legislation helps auto dealers save jobs in our local dealerships.  Dealers make very little from new car sales, the quality of service offered by the dealer is what creates a profit and continuing revenue stream through maintenance and repair services

Specific provisions of this bill to help dealers include:

  • Protecting dealers from unreasonable site and facility upgrade demands made by manufacturers

  • Protecting the privacy of customer financial information

  • Updating the manufacturers' financial obligations to reimburse dealers for inventory and other investments made at the manufacturers insistence if the dealership is terminated without cause by the manufacturer

Assembly Bill 113 changes the statutory description of the boundary between Green Lake and Marquette Counties.  The change reflects what county officials have understood the boundaries of these two counties to be for more than 150 years.

Senate Bill 28, Representative Severson, along with Representative Ballweg authored a bill to require an appointment of a citizen member from each of Wisconsin's congressional district to serve on the UW Board of Regents.  The bill will improve representation for all parts of Wisconsin on the Board of Regents.

Assembly Bill 106 is legislation that would raise the jurisdictional limit in a small claims action to $10,000. The benefit of this bill would allow greater access to the system by allowing a larger claim. It is only right to allow greater access to "The People's Court", for both businesses and individuals. This bill was included in the budget and this new limit is now in effect.

Senate Bill 147 is a state statutory change that will allow unemployed individuals in Wisconsin to take advantage of the federal extension that was passed in the Tax Relief Act of 2010.  The Extended Benefits would continue during a certain period of time, as long as 100% federal funding remained and the triggering unemployment rate does not drop below the statutory trigger levels. This bill also passed by a wide bipartisan margin.

Assembly Resolution 15, proclaiming October Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic violence is a persistent problem in Wisconsin that causes incalculable human suffering.  By recognizing Domestic Violence the assembly wants to bring attention to the victims of domestic violence and their children who have suffered emotional and physical abuse

Assembly Joint Resolution 12, proclaiming April Donate Life Month.  This month is dedicated to recognizing the need for organ, eye and tissue donation and honor those individuals that have donated life.
